Monday the 7th of March was the start of a series of workshops held in the Kivu Belt to coordinate and improve transport systems along the Congo Nile Trail. The workshop served to come up with various solutions for transport needs for visitors on the hiking and biking trail.
More than 20 representatives from various transport cooperatives, hotels and guides working along the Congo Nile Trail met to discuss solutions. The focus of the workshops was everything from solutions to transporting luggage to emergency transportation for tourists.

The Kivu Belt DMU is a coalition of private and public tourism related actors working towards a common goal of developing the Kivu Belt as a sustainable adventure and eco-tourism destination.
The main objective is economic development and job creation in the Kivu Belt through sustainable development of tourism
